Anonymous usage

Most of Memonics feature you can try out without creating an account. Just click on the 'Try it now' button and start creating Items. We call this anonymous usage. In this mode a temporary user is generated for you and all Items and Sets created get assigned to this user. You are able to create and work with your Items and Sets as if you were a registered and logged in user. But be aware that the temporary user only exists for a limited amount of time and is only accessible within the browser you created the Items. That means, your data will not be available on a different computer or a different browser on the same computer. For the more technically inclined, the temporary user is stored in a cookie, once you lose that you lose your data.

However there is a way to save your data for good. As soon as you log in to Memonic all Items and Sets are transferred into your account. You will find them like all other newly created Items in your inbox. A little notification on the very top reminds you to log in once you have Items but still are in anonymous mode.

Things you can't do in anonymous mode:

  • Create an Item by email. For that to work we need to know your email address to match the sender with a Memonic user.
  • Set a custom username. Your username will be a randomly generated string.
  • Create more than 10 Items. One reason to limit the anonymous usage is to protect you from losing your Items by losing the cookie.
